Rovers reserves managed by Jason McAteer took the lead when Paul Henry volley in from a set piece routine. Rovers continued with pressure in the first half but had to wait till after the break to double their lead. Pool keeper Halstead not picking up a misplaced Tranmere pass which allowed Curran to knock the ball through the goalkeepers' legs.

Pool managed to get back into the game, Everton trialist Dax Hoogerwerf converting from a Marcus Bean through ball. Moments before Danny Coid had the ball in the net but was ruled out for offside.

The home side regained two goal advantage Terry Gornell scoring from close range again from a set piece.

The two side meet in league one action this weekend.
