Deepdale - Preston North End
How To Get There
M55, M6. Just follow the sea of tangerine making their way there.
Sat navvers - PR1 6RU
For the Virgin lovers amongst us, get off the train, be met by a smiling man in blue and he`ll show you the way to the ground.
The land on which the stadium stands was originally Deepdale Farm. It was leased on 21 January 1875 by the town's North End sports club and originally used for cricket and rugby. It hosted its first football match on 5 October 1878. All four of the original stands have been replaced by new all seated structures named after famous ex players.
With a capacity of 23, 404 it`s rarely anywhere near capacity these days. The football museum went around the same time as their Championship status.
We`ll be on the kop, not been a place of too many unhappy memories over our recent visits. Over 4000 Pool in attendance it`ll be nice to add some colour to the Monday night television viewing.
Plod & Stewards
Despite their protestations there`ll be a presence.
Where To Drink
The put them in a pub in the town plan went a bit skewiff a few years ago, you`ll struggle to get served anywhere near the ground. Drink in your local then make the short hop. Ale is served pre game but not at half time……
Fear Factor rating - 2.
A winning start on the road sets the scene nicely. I think, and I hope Ince Snr knows what this means to us as fans. It could be a long time before our paths cross again, let`s get some bragging rights under the belt and a few more £`s on Ince jnrs valuation following a sterling display in front of a watching nation and here`s hoping come 10pm it`s those of us in tangerine who are feeling alright on the night.
