Sky Sports: Stead Deal Falls Through
The 27-year-old had been in for talks at Bloomfield Road earlier this week.
But contract negotiations have apparently broken down between the two parties.
Roy Keane is willing to let Stead go for a relatively small fee of £200,000 and the striker recently turned down a move to Saturday's opponents Bristol City.
Whether Stead himself has set his demands too high or the club aren't offering a reasonable deal is up for debate.
It doesn't really matter which, but it does now leave the Seasiders in a very precarious position of having limited options up front going into the Premiership season two weeks tomorrow.
With news of a bid turned down for DJ Campbell breaking on this site today, it will be interesting to see if Ian Holloway turns attentions elsewhere after these two latest setbacks.
