'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Steady On, Another Name!

Either Andy Burton and co at Sky Sports Towers have a random name generator when publishing transfer stories or they do actually know the players Ian Holloway is chasing in the quest to bolster the Seasiders' squad ahead of the Premiership season.

Whichever it is - probably somewhere inbetween - Sky are reporting that Blackpool are in talks with Ipswich Town striker Jon Stead as he joins a huge list of rumoured targets.

The 27-year-old has always looked a lively threat when we've come up against him in the past few years in the Championship.

It's said that Stead is available for as little as £200,000 and recently turned down a move to Bristol City.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Huddersfield Town man has hit six goals in 13 starts for current club Ipswich after falling out of favour with manager Roy Keane.

Before signing for the Tractor Boys, he had a fruitful loan spell at Portman Road, notching 12 goals in 26 starts.

A player whose intelligence on the ball and awareness sometimes goes unnoticed could be a shrewd - and let's not forget cheap - signing for the 'Pool.
