'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Scout Report: Exodus Geogaghon

Currently plying his trade at Kettering Town in the Conference, this no-nonsense centre half has attracted a fair bit of interest from several league clubs.

Having had a taste of a league club as a youngster at West Brom, Geogaghon has rebuilt his career via Bromsgrove Rovers, Sutton Coalfield & Redditch United.

Aged 24 - signing in July 2008 - Exodus has just completed his half century of league games for the Poppies.

After missing out on the playoffs by just one place in their first season back in the Conference last year, Kettering will be hoping to kick on this term.

On a personal level, Geogaghan's goal against Lincoln City in last years' FA Cup brought some attention his way. Kettering finally lost in the last two minutes of the 4th round against Premiership opponents in Fulham, but having beaten two league teams and eventual Conference Champions Burton Albion en route it was inevitable that other clubs would look at the players contained within this team and it is of some surprise that Geogaghon is still playing outside of the football league.

Indeed his performances last season earned him a call up to the England 'C' squad and he made his debut in a 2-2 draw v Italy.

It has been widely reported that Sheffied United have attended several games to watch him play, along with Palace and the obvious local interest of Peterborough; league clubs continue to be linked to the player.

Southampton are the latest club rumoured to have watched the big defender. He has a throw to match his build and it is regarded as one of the longest in the game. However his overall package means that he is regarded as one of the best centre halves in the division.

As of yet no-one has followed it up with a financial bid, but as Kettering had been full time prior to their promotion to the Conference, coupled with the loss of the Setanta money to Conference clubs, surely a decent bid would not be turned down.
Mark Cooper the manager - who is linked with a possible move to the vacancy at Lincoln City - recently said that if a manager in the football league wanted to take a punt on the player then he wouldn't be surprised.

With the Poppies only suffering one defeat in their opening seven games and sat nicely in the play off places this 6'7' centre half is certainly one that's going to be hard to keep off the radar.
