Man of the Match Update

Another new season and man of the match is back, Alex John-Baptiste was last years winner and fans will be hoping that he can carry on his good performances at the back and establish himself as one of the first names on the team sheet each week.

QPR was first up for the Seasiders, a Ben Burgess strike was enough to bring home a decent point, but it was the new captain Jason Euell who was the first player to pick up a man of the match point. Euell picked up 66% of the votes and impressed fans on his league debut.

Following the QPR game the Seasiders travelled to Crewe in the Carling cup, with boss Ian Holloway making a fair few changes to the side. Ian Evatt was the winner for this one, giving a solid display at the back and picking up 66% of the votes.

Cardiff were the first visitors to Bloomfield Road this season in the league and Ian Evatt`s header was enough to secure Blackpool a point after Michael Chopra had put Cardiff in front. Baptiste, Ormerod and Taylor-Fletcher all picked up one vote in this game, Charlie Adam and Jason Euell picked up two votes, David Vaughan fell two short of the winner with 4 votes, whilst the winner for the second game in the row was Ian Evatt who picked up 35.3% of the votes for this game.

Derby were the next team to come to Blackpool in a goalless draw. Ian Evatt picked up a couple of votes but wasn`t enough to win his third game in a row whilst David Vaughan and Alex John-Baptiste got a couple of votes each. The winner was debutant Neil Eardley who gave a decent display at right back. Eardley picked up 58.3% of the votes and picks up the man of the match award for the game against Derby.

Here is the leader board, and this season where there is a tie of points they will be sorted by the percentage of votes (on average) that they picked up from the game that they were voted the man of the match in:

Player Wins Percentage of votes (Average)
Ian Evatt 2 51%
Jason Euell 1 66%
Neil Eardley 1 58.30%
