'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Head-To-Head: Cardiff

Games: 62
Blackpool Wins: 31
Cardiff Wins: 14
Draws: 17

A late - really late - Alan Gow strike sealed a point for Simon Grayson's Blackpool side in the corresponding fixture last season. In front of just over 7000, Gow smashed home from the edge of the box to cancel out Paul Parry's goal seven minutes from time.

But neither player will be on show this weekend with Gow still stalling over a move to Plymouth and Parry moving on to Preston.

Two men who are likely to feature are Peter Whittingham and Ross McCormack - both scoring once in the 2-0 defeat at Ninian Park last season.

That 2-0 win was Cardiff's third consecutive home win against 'Pool, but at Bloomfield Road it's been a bit more even in recent times.

Although City did win in 2007 through a Steven Thompson thunderbolt, we did overcome the Bluebirds the game before that...

...sadly that was back in 2002!

However, we have the superior edge overall, with 31 league victories to Cardiff's 14 - dating back to 1920.

Our biggest victory came in 1960, a 6-1 drubbing, and every time we've lost to the Welshmen it's been by the odd goal, other than the last couple of seasons.

Let's hope we take our historical and not recent form into Saturday's encounter!
