Pool's Humphrey Bid Knocked Back

The winger was an integral part of the Shrews squad which reached the League Two playoff final.

They eventually lost to Gillingham (who had another rumoured 'Pool target playing for them that day, Josh Wright) but Humphrey received glowing reviews.

At just 21, and with the ability to play on either flank, the midfielder looks set to have a big future in the game.

This is something he obviously recognises, as the offer of a two-year new contract has been so far passed up.

Town manager Paul Simpson said: 'Chris has decided that he wants to give himself a little bit more time for decisions to come and I respect that.

'He's had a couple of clubs who have been enquiring but other than Blackpool there isn't anyone else who has been in touch with us about taking Chris Humphrey.

'Until a club agrees something with us or they are prepared to take a chance with a tribunal then Chris will stay here.'

In the last transfer window it was widely reported that Aston Villa boss Martin O'Neill scouted the midfielder on a number of occasions with a view to a move.
