Barker WILL Stay At Blackpool

The new manager has been talking to SkySports and has stated that club captain Shaun Barker will be staying at Bloomfield Road this summer.

This is despite two clubs - believed to be Derby and their rivals Nottingham Forest - showing serious interest in the defender.

Holloway said: 'I have had two clubs very interested in Shaun Barker,'

'He knows who those clubs are and is aware of their interest, but he has got a three-year contract here and he won't be going anywhere unless we want him to.'

But what came next in the interview is perhaps the most alarming for 'Pool fans.

'Ollie' stated: 'He shouldn't have signed that contract if he wanted to move on and it is as simple as that really.'

Is this the first indication that Barker is ready to move on from Bloomfield Road? The 26-year-old had an incredible end to last season when he reverted to centre back alongside Rob Edwards.

But now perhaps he thinks he's achieved all he can at the club and is looking to move on.

However, with Holloway in bullish mood, and a three year contract, will he be leaving anytime soon?

Probably not, but I wouldn't like to see a player kept against his will.
