'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Opposite Corner - Peter Jackson

Down And Out

'It's a big disappointment. I said before the game that it was important that we progress in the FA Cup for financial reasons and we didn't.
'I thought we played ok in the formation during the first half, but we had to change it after we conceded. It was a game of few chances for both sides and the team that scored first was going to win the tie.
'I thought we would have scored when Taylor-Fletcher missed the chance after Nathan hit the bar. But a controversial penalty has dictated that we went out of the competition.

Penalty?!?

'I am very disappointed with the decision for the penalty that Blackpool got. I didn't agree that it was a penalty. I would agree more if the referee had blown-up just before when Joe Skarz slid in the box, but he played on and tried to make amends.

Bookings..

'The bookings for Worthington and Collins are also very disappointing. Worthy is a fully committed player and it was clear that he took the ball.
Looked to me that it was a two footed challenge and deserved a straight red!

The Crowd

'We expected a low crowd. We played Welling at this time last year and I know it is different playing Blackpool, but that was a low crowd too. I was slightly disappointed in the crowd, but not too disappointed.

No mention of our terrific support.

Cups And Injuries

'We have gone out of all three cup competitions in front of our home fans and f course it is a major disappointment. We should have progressed in each of them and we haven't.
'McCombe came in at the last minute because McIntosh had a slight groin strain. We have Pav out and now Holdsworth and Worthington, both of whom have five bookings, so I will see what we will do next week.'
