Disappointing...The Blame

Wilkins said: "It was a disappointing performance and a disappointing result. It is hard for me to hide that disappointment at the moment, especially as I know how hard we`ve worked all week to prepare a side and put them out there with a plan that - if they put into practise - we wouldn`t have had a problem in the game. I feel bitterly disappointed the players didn`t do that."

It seems he is laying the blame entirely on the playing squad, which may be a bit unfair on the players. All blame has been shifted away from the management, which shows lack of maturity and unprofessionalism - even as a young manager. He may well have worked them hard, but he hasn`t come out fighting to the media, just passes the blame.

Weakness

When asked about weakness in the squad, Wilkins replied: "I think there are too many areas of concern to highlight now. I think for the first time I will sit the team down and we will watch the video of the match together, and I hope it will embarrass the players when they see what they`ve done out there."

He hopes it will embarrass the players when they see what they`ve done out there? And what will that achieve? Ok, I`m no managerial guru, but to embarrass players will only have a bad effect on them, surely? Unless they are a bunch of very strong willed individuals.

Fans

"I sympathise with the supporters. They have every right after a performance like that to boo us. It`s up to us to put it right."

"We have to turn it around. It is my job and it is the players` job to go out there and wear the shirt with pride and put in a performance."

Finally, some fighting talk!

Toronto's View

It really looks like they may well go down and from afar it looks like Dean Wilkins isn't up to it. That is a view from a far though.
