Referee:

It wasn't a game to remember at Bloomfield Road yesterday as the Seasiders picked up a point against Sheffield United in what was a match of little excitement.

As expected, Neil McDonald selected the same side that has been impressing in recent games, with Will Aimson retaining his place at centre back and Jack Redshaw and Danny Philliskirk starting upfront.

The first real chance of the evening came when Billy Sharp volleyed off target, though Brad Potts responded well for the Tangerines as he forced George Long into a save.

Though soon after Billy Sharp went even closer when his link up play with Conor Sammon led to him curling an effort just wide of Colin Doyle's goal.

The away side were the ones with the better opportunities and they really should have been ahead before halftime when Sammon's powerful shot was brilliantly saved by Doyle.

Half Time 0-0

Blackpool looked better going forward after half time and Tom Aldred nearly got his 3rd of the season when he met Yeates' corner but could only head wide.

Jim McAlister, who is yet to find the net for the Seasiders, also went very close but could only produce an effort that went straight into the arms of the keeper.

Uche Ikpeazu had a great impact against Walsall and McDonald was again hoping for a similar performance from the big forward again as he brought him off of the bench.

Ikpeazu again looked a threat as he headed onto the roof of the net soon after coming on just before he smashed an effort wide of the target.

There were a couple of half chances for the remainder of the game but it certainly wasn't one of the most entertaining games of the season as the game finished 0-0.

A point against Sheffield United is hardly a poor result but a win would have been ideal, especially since Pool face Gillingham on Saturday.

The Seasiders do look to be improving and the side at least looks competitive, however this has been said before before McDonald's men have gone back on to losing runs, something which the boss cannot afford to let happen.

Star Player

Will Aimson, what was most pleasing for Blackpool was another clean sheet and Aimson played an important part in that.
