Gillingham vs Blackpool

2 - 1

Attendance: 6,231

Pool were beaten late on by league leaders Gillingham after a Bradley Dack goal pushed Pool back down to second from bottom in the table.

Blackpool didn't make the perfect start as they went behind early on, Doug Loft's 17th minute tap in after the ball rebounded back off Colin Doyle from a free kick meant McDonald's side had everything to do.

Gillingham hadn't conceded at home all season but Pool looked strong going forward and Brad Potts missed a great chance on 23 minutes when his header went wide.

Though the Seasiders weren't without some close scares as Luke Norris' freekick struck the bar at the end of the half.

Blackpool made a better start to the second half however and were level on 52 minutes when some great work from Brad Potts down the right hand side gave him the chance to cross and his low ball was turned into his own net by Ryan Jackson.

The Tangerines kept up their attacking display and on the hour mark could of been ahead. Potts' effort was cleared off the line before Lloyd Jones effort on the rebound was blocked.

It looked like it was going to be a good point for McDonald's men as the game went on and slowed down but on 81 minutes the ball found its way to Bradley Dack who fired home from ten yards and gave Blackpool their fifth league defeat of the season.

The display wasn't too bad from Pool and in parts they looked like they could push on and win it, but the young team is still seemingly lacking the ability to see out games.

Certainly improvements have been made since the embarrassing 4-0 home defeat to Walsall a couple of weeks ago but there is still much work to do for Neil McDonald.

Pool definitely need a win next week at home to Barnsley.

Star Player

Brad Potts was Pool's star man on the day. He looks to be improving every game as he gets used to playing in League One and was very creative.
