Scunthorpe vs Blackpool

Scunthorpe
0 - 1
Blackpool

Glanford Park

5/9/15

Attendance: 3,313

Referee:

Remember the date 5th September 2015. It was the day Blackpool FC FINALLY won a game of football away from home.

The last win away came against Wigan in 2014 when the Seasiders won 2-0 to keep them in the Championship.

It may not have been the most amazing of displays yesterday but Pool finally got 3 points after Brad Potts bundled Henry Cameron's corner over the line.

Scunthorpe started the game more brightly and had a good chance after five minutes but Doyle was equal to Kevin Van Veen's effort.

There wasn't too much to get excited about until about 10 minutes before the half ended. First, Van Veen went close with a wonderful effort before Pool went up the other end and scored. Potts bundled Cameron's corner in from about 3 yards to give the Seasiders the lead.

Though Scunthorpe could of easily equalised before the break when Doyle made a great save from Paddy Madden's headed effort and again soon after when he denied Scott Laird.

There wasn't too much to get excited about at the start of the second half either and on the hour mark McDonald decided to try and hang on to the lead Pool had by bringing on Clark Robertson and David Norris and switching to a 5-3-2.

Scunthorpe were playing better and had the more of the chances, though Pool could of doubled their lead on 68 minutes when Mark Cullen ran one on one but was denied by the keeper.

Pool were up against it for the rest of the game and Doyle made a string of brilliant saves to keep the game at 1-0. Pool managed to hang on and get their first win since January.

Pool's performance wasn't amazing, but what mattered is the 3 points. It's a huge relief for McDonald to get that first win.

Scunthorpe aren't one of the better teams in the division and Mark Robins is already under pressure this season. Pool will most likely be in a relegation battle this season, but at least this win is a start.

Star Player

Colin Doyle, the keeper won Blackpool the 3 points with his string of brilliant saves.
