The pressure is mounting on manager Simon Grayson after Pool fail again to earn three points at Bloomfield Road.
Grayson made three changed to the side that lost out to Vale on Saturday, Michael Jackson replaced Mark Joseph which meant Barker switching to right-back. Coid replaced Tierney at left back. Upfront Ben Burgess was given his first start in a tangerine shirt with Andy Morrell dropping to the bench.
Pool started off well in the first half with the strings being pulled by Wes Hoolahan, but it was the visitors in maroon, who forged the first chance with Caleb Folan shooting straight at Evans after a run from the sideline.
The chances kept on falling to Forlan who impressed in the first period, he had two headers but couldn`t open the scoring for the night.
Scott Vernon had penalty appeal turned down when it appeared that the Chesterfield keeper clipped his heals as he took the ball away from the goal
Pool took the lead thanks to some great work down the right hand side by Claus Jorgensen who juggled the ball past the full back. With multiple options in the box Jorgensen composed himself and picked out Gillett who directed his header past the numerous bodies in the box from 12 yards out.
After the half time break Pool had a great chance to double the lead, full back Shaun Barker surged forward but his shot was tipped wide.
Chesterfield levelled the match when the ball broke free from a long throw to Kevan Hurst who smashed it into the far corner of the net on the half volley.
Pool nearly took the lead once again when Hoolahan danced past a selection of defenders on the edge of the box but he was only able to fire wide.
Vale had a glorious chance to take the lead for the first time in the evening when the lively Celab Forlan headed just wide of Evans goal.
Grayson looked to change things around with Morrell replacing Vernon and Parker replacing the goal scorer Gillett. Both were unable to make an impress on the game, apart from Parker who left four impressions in the offside stats column.
Pool had one final chance to win the match and it fell to new striker Ben Burgess. The ball broke to the big man but he could only stoop and head wide from 6 yards to the disarray of the North Stand.
Ref C Webster didn`t help matters with some bizarre decisions and constantly blowing up for fouls when a clear advantage could have been played. Fans at the end of the match showed their anger towards Mr Webster but how long is it until that anger turns to the man in charge?
Pool- Evans, Barker, Jackson, Evatt, Coid, Hoolahan (Prendergast 83), Southern, Jorgensen, Gillett (Parker 76), Vernon (Morrell 65), Burgess. Subs Not Used: Edge, Joseph
