Brighton vs. Blackpool

Preview: Seagulls v Seasiders

Blackpool will be looking to bounce back from the disappointing midweek defeat to Derby when they travel to Brighton tomorrow afternoon.

Ian Holloway's side were well below par on Wednesday night, and will need to improve big style to get anything out of a Brighton side who are on a real roll and have a 100% record this season.

The Seagulls have been transformed since the arrival of Gus Poyet and will guarentee the Seasiders a stern test infront of a sold out Amex Stadium.

Vital Quotes:

Gus Poyet says that the game needs more characters like Ollie:

'I like the way that he [Ollie] feels about the game and the energy he shows on the sidelines. He has a real passion for the game and football needs characters like Ian.'

Meanwhile, Ollie has stated that he may make changes to the side following the performance in midweek:

'We're going to need some pace and we need to work and hurt their back line a lot more than we did against Derby.

'They've got excellent running over the top so I am seriously considering moving [Alex] Baptiste back into that middle zone as well as freshening up my forward line.'

Brighton Team News:

Will Buckley faces a fitness test on a hamstring injury. Kazenga LuaLua remains a doubt.

Player to watch: Craig Mackail-Smith

Lightning quick - if the Seasiders aren't careful their high line of defence could cause all sorts of problems for them with CMS on the pitch.

Blackpool Team News:

Craig Cathcart is set to miss out with a reported illness whilst Elliot Grandin is a doubt with a foot injury.

Player to watch: Gary Taylor-Fletcher

The shining star of Wednesday night's defeat. If Grandin does indeed miss out through injury, GTF could move inside and play in the 'hole' behind the striker - the position that many feels suits him best. Watch him try and dictate things for the Seasiders, hopefully flanked by pace either side.

Match Facts & Stats

All 22 previous meetings between Brighton and Blackpool have been league matches. Each club has won eight, with six drawn.

Brighton failed to score in both games when these two last met in League One in 2006/07.

Blackpool have lost only one of the last five league meetings with the Seagulls.

The promoted Seagulls have not won the first four matches of a league season since the old Third Division South campaign of 1953.

Victory for the Seasiders meanwhile would give us our best start to a league campaign in twenty years.
