Seasiders Play Bluebirds

The Seasiders host Cardiff City in the first Championship early kick off tomorrow (the second being Birmingham v QPR at 12:45) looking to break into the top half of the league once again.

It's been a decent start by Simon Grayson's team, who are - at the moment - defying the bookies and holding their own in the division.

Cardiff are no slouches either. Dave Jones has a well drilled outfit with some quality attacking players in Bothroyd, McCormack and Whittingham. They've recently signed American international Eddie Johnson as well, who is a potent threat but raw.

They currently sit in 7th place - although only two points ahead of Pool, who sit seven places behind.

Cardiff's Last Five

Home 2-1 win v Coventry.
Home 2-1 loss v Birmingham.
Away 1-0 loss v Swansea.
Away 1-1 draw v Derby.
Away 1-0 win v Barnsley.

Blackpool Team News:

Stephen Crainey and Jermaine Wright are the long term abstenees for Pool, whilst Nardiello is likely to miss out again.

Larry ruled out a move for a striker this week, so are set to start with Burgess and Kabba with no alternative on the bench.

Alan Gow is pushing for a start, and Claus Jorgensen must be feeling the heat the most, but should retain his place.

Player to watch: Claus Jorgensen

Debate has raged this week as to whether Jorgensen offers something extra to the team after the midweek 1-1 draw at QPR.

As mentioned above, Alan Gow must surely be in contention to take Claus' place soon, but can the former Faroe Island international put in a good performance to keep his place?

Cardiff City Team News:

No major team news for The Bluebirds ahead of the game.

Fullback Tony Capaldi is struggling to prove his fitness and Ricky Scimeca definitely misses out.

Player to watch: Stephen McPhail

The former Leeds United man has always been a dominant force in the midfield for Cardiff, and a tussle with Southern and Jorgensen should be interesting, and probably vital in seeing who comes out of the game with three points.
