Shrewsbury Town vs. Blackpool

New Meadow

25/07/08

19:30

Shrewsbury T V Blackpool

Pool travel to the New Meadow to face Shrewsbury Town in a Friday friendly match.

Shrewsbury Town Team News:

Former Pool favorite Paul Simpson starts his first complete season as Shrews boss with a strong squad. He`s brought in five new players in the summer Grant Holt, Richard Walker, Paul Murray, Mike Jackson and Shane Sherriff. Grant Holt spend the back end of the season on loan at Bloomfield Road but was unable to make an impact. A 170,000 transfer to the New Meadow from Nottingham Forrest make Grant the clubs record signing and things started well for him bagging a brace again WBA in a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.

Another former Pool player Richard Walker joins on a year long loan from Bristol Rovers and former Blackpool Captain Mike Jackson makes up the trio of former Pool players at the club. Things are looking good for the Shrews who now play in the New Meadow / The Pro-Star Stadium.

Player to watch: Grant Holt

Two goals in his first game against WBA, hopefully a correct decision from Larry to buy purchase 170,000 is a hefty price tag.

Blackpool Team News:

No real news from Pool about the injuries which forced seven out of the second Latvian tour game. Eight players missed the Wrexham game Tayor-Fletcher, Martin, Jorgensen, Kay, Coid, Crainey, Evatt and Hammill.

There`s still no news on the Paul Dickov signing, reports have been positive and a getting a game / 45 minites under the belt would help the Scot back into the swing of things.

There is also the possibility for trialist John Halls to play again after 45 minuets against Wrexham, there`s no news on another trialist Darren Powell who pulled out of the Wrexham game with a calf injury.

Player to watch: Adam Hammill

He`s no Hoolahan according to Simon Grayson but I can`t wait to see what this kid is like.
