Blackpool vs. Charlton

Bloomfield Road

23/02/08

15:00

Pool V Charlton

After the disappointment of the Ipswich result Charlton visit Bloomfield Road, with Pool looking for a revenge after a 4-1 drubbing last month at the Valley.

Blackpool Team News:

Michael Jackson will miss the match and a few more matches after a hamstring injury in the Ipswich defeat. Stephen Crainey is also out with an ankle / shin knock. Two defenders are able to play again, Kaspasrs Gorkss returns from a two match ban and Ian Evatt should be fit after hamstring problem.

Grayson may have a new face in with two players being touted to join on loan deals, defenders hopefully.

Player to watch: Paul Dickov

He`s up there with Wayne Gill as one of the best loan signing ever, 4 goals in 4 games is a great stat and he`ll be looking to continue that run of form against Charlton who do have one of the best away defenses in the championship.

Charlton Team News:

Alan Pardew will be without Kelly Youga, who serves a one-match ban for 5 yellow cards and Madjid Bougherra who is injured.

Charlton are unbeaten in three, winning 2-0 against Palace, 0-0 to Wednesday away and 2-2 with Watford after being 2-0 up.

Player to watch: Luke Varney

7 goals in 17 starts this season is a good return from the former Crewe striker. Signed in the summer for a whopping £2 million he's partnered Andy Grey upfront recently after starting the season up top with Chris Iwelumo.

Match Facts & Stats

As mentioned above it all went a bit Pete Tong at the Valley last month with the home side running out 4-1 winners. Bougherra opened the scoring, Burgess equalized but goals form Varney and a brace from Zhi sealed a comfortable win.

Charlton`s last visit to Blackpool was in March 1981 when they ran out 2-0 winners in the old third division.
