Blackpool vs. Cardiff

Bloomfield Road

11/12/07

Pool V Cardiff

Fresh from the Preston win Pool play Cardiff at Bloomers, a win can see the Seasiders propel into 13th in the Championship.

Blackpool Team News:

Michael Jackson is a doubt after left the the pitch in the second half of the derby win with a stomach complaint, it appeared the change, which saw the introduction of Ian Evatt, was tactical but the injury was the problem. Evatt may play, which would be his first start since late September due to injury.

Bartosz Slusarski is a doubt still with an ankle injury, with only Ben Burgess firing at the moment its a problem. Keith Southern will also miss out again with an ankle injury.

Player to watch: Stephen Crainey

Awesome on Saturday against Preston, he seems to get better and better each match, solid defending, not as attacking compared to his previous left-backs, but his distribution was good on Saturday bar the odd poor long ball. All Crainey needs to do is keep fit!

Cardiff Team News:

Cardiff only managed their second win in 10 games on Saturday beating Colchester 4-1. The bluebirds had gone 1-0 down but four goals in the second half sealed the win. Stephen McPhail (hamstring) and defender Kevin McNaughton (knee) are going to have fitness tests for the match.

The first goal in the second half came from Steven Thompson which earned him a place in the Championship Team Of The Week along with Claus Jorgensen. Thompson bagged his second goal in three games but remains on the transfer list.

Player to watch: Paul Parry

Yes there has been the influx on ex-premiership players to Cardiff team this summer Sinclair, Folwer and Hasselbaink, but Paul Parry who has been at the club since the turn of 2004 is one of the Blue Birds best players. With three goals this season Parry is a threat crossing in from the left wing for the like of Hasslebaink and Fowler.

Match Facts & Stats

The last meeting between the sides was back in 2003 when Cardiff were in the League One with the Seasiders. A 2-1 defeat for Pool in South Wales, a Scott Taylor opener but Earnshaw and Mahon secured the points for the home side. Cardiff haven`t won at Bloomfield Road since 1968. John Hills grabbed the winner in the last match in 2002, with a second half strike.
