The dust hasn`t even settled from the home win over QPR and Pool are back in action against Scunthorpe in the Monday night live game.
Scunny come into the match on the back of a 3-0 drubbing away to Plymouth. All three goals came in the second half of the match. Their form has dipped with only 1 win in 11 games, that came against Sheffield Wednesday in late October. At home they have won 3 draw 2 and lost 4. Republic of Ireland international Joe Murphy missed the last match due to suspension after he was sent off in the 1-1 draw at Coventry City. Reserve keeper Josh Lillis, 20, made his second start for the club in the absence of Murphy who is set to return between the posts for Monday. Kelly Youga also served a ban and is up for selection again.
We picked out as the man to watch but in the home fixture he failed to impress. 4 of his 7 goals this season have come at Glanford Park, but he`s not hit the back of the net in 7 games, the last time was in the Iron`s last win over Sheffield Wednesday.
Two concerns from the weekend Bartosz Slusarski is a doubt after he twisted his ankle in the second half of the QPR match. He managed to carry on for 5 minuets before being replaced by Andy Morrell. Keith Southern only lasted 12 minuets, a knock on the ankle from a foul by Martin Rowlands looks likely to keep him out of the side. Fox replaced him and looks likely to retain his place in the middle of the park.
Andy Welsh failed to impress on the wing and looked like he struggled in the wind never mind in a challenge. Gary Taylor-Fletcher looks the most probable to replace Welsh.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines Big Ben was back in the team on Saturday and proved to be the man of the hour with a 90th minute winner. He was unlucky not to break the deadlock in the first half of the match with a header which was well saved by Lee Camp. The goal puts him joint top scorer at the club with Hoolahan and Morrell on 4 goals in all competitions.
There has been some really good games over the two sides in the past few season which is probably why the match has been selected to be shown on Sky. Two seasons ago Pool thrashed Scunthorpe 5-2 at home in Simon Grayson`s first game in charge.
Last season Pool managed the double over the champions 3-1 home and away. A couple of months a ago in the reverse of this fixture a Kaspars Gorkss header sealed a 1-0 win.
