Blackpool vs. Brentford

Bloomfield Road

03/02/07

Pool V Brentford

Pool will try to put the looming forth round reply against Norwich next Tuesday to the back of their minds as bottom of the table Brentford visit Bloomfeild Road.

Blackpool Team News:

Simon Grayson will be without Keith Southern who picked up his 5th yellow card of the season against Norwich on Saturday. This means Simon Gillett who was re-captured on loan this week may go straight into the side. More likely Claus Jorgensen will be allowed to start in his preferred central midfield role; also Marcus Bean will be looking for a start.

Loanee keeper Paul Rachubka will have to settle for a place on the bench if Grayson decides to go with a keeper on the bench.

Player to watch: Ian Evatt

Evo scored his first goal in a tangerine shirt in his 24th game. He will be looking to add to that and make up for the slight mistake that lead to Norwich taking the lead on Saturday.

Brentford Team News:

Brentford have managed to bring in five players since the transfer window opened Neil Shipperley, Che Wilson, Joe Keith, Michael Leary and David Partridge. Michael Leary will miss the match due to a one match suspension for picking up five bookings.

Che Wilson returns from a one match suspension, the Bees will be still without goalkeeper Stuart Nelson, ankle, defender Matt Heywood and forward Lloyd Owusu both with groin injuries.

The Bees have had a awful season so far and have only managed to win one away game at Northampton, their second match of the season.

Player to watch: Neil Shipperley

The experienced forward signed this January from Sheffield United after a two year spell in the steel city. Shippers made his debut last week against Carlisle in a 0-0 draw.

Match Facts & Stats

The two sides met on the opening day of the season and Brentford came out on top winning the season opener 1-0 with a goal from Olafur Ingi Skulason.
