Hillsborough

Sheffield Wednesday V Pool

......Well I'm counting the matches, 8 now since that win over Hull on Sky, the performance against WBA deserved three points, we`re creating chances so it seems like a good time to play 3rd from bottom Sheff Wed

Sheffield Wednesday Team News:

Brian Laws is under pressure at Hillsborough after only 3 wins Wednesday sit third from bottom. Their only win at home was against Hull back in August, Jeffers with the only goal in the game.

Ricahrd Wood dislocated his shoulder in the defeat to Scunthorpe on Tuesday, Wade small is a doubt with an ankle injury, Franny Jeffers is out too so Deon Burton should partner Marcus Tugay upfront if he recovers from consussion. Frank Simek and ex Everton defender Steve Watson return to the squad after injury.

Player to watch: Marcus Tudgay

It`s hard to pick out a player to watch from a poor team but Tudgay has done ok. He`s grabbed two goals this season, both came in the 2-4 win over Stoke.

Blackpool Team News:

Grayson changed the side and formation for the WBA match, Coid replaced Taylor-Fletcher and went 3-4-1-2, so wing backs with Wes playing behind the front two. After 20 it changed to 4-4-2. The change was to counteract the pressure from a very good side at home. Wednesday are far from that with 1 win and 4 losses at Hillsborough so we might start the game with the normal formation.

Michael Jackson picked up a knock (stomach strain) on Tuesday night, he was replaced by Matt Jackson who also seemed to pick up a knock late on. Grayson has been trying to bring some fresh blood to the squad but nothing has materialized.

Player to watch: Scotty Vernon

With a great little nutmeg and a fine finish in the corner Scotty grabbed his first goal of the season. He played well on Tuesday night with Keigan, with Morrell and Burgess still out Vern looks like he`ll have another chance to impress.

Match Facts & Stats

Blackpool`s last visit to Hillsborough ended in a 3-2 defeat, goals from Roadcastle and a brace from Talbot sealed the win. Southern with a goal to make it 1-1 and Wellens with the other goal in the 90th minute.

In the 2003/04 season the sides met four times, twice in the league and twice in the LDV Vans Northern Final. Pool won both games away, 1-0 in the league match, a late goal from Scotty Taylor. In the LDV to seal a place in the final a 2-0 win courtesy of goals from Sheron and Southern, so look out for another goal from Keith Southern.
