Chesterfield V Pool

Pool are looking for the perfect ending to the festive period with a fourth win in four games away at Chesterfield.

Chesterfield Team News:

Chesterfield come into the match after a defeat to the leagues whipping boys Brentford, losing 2-1 at Brentford. The Spireites last won a match back on the 9th of December, beating Oldham 2-1.

They have had a terrific League Cup run this season beating two Premiership sides before bowing out to Charlton on penalties. Stuart Pearce manager of one of the defeated top sides Manchester City was at the Pool V Chesterfield match earlier in the season eyeing up the Spireites, Pearce must not have been watching very closely that night, Chesterfield went on to beat City 2-1.

The home side might be without Alex Bailey who sustained an injury in the Brentford game, his place might go to Adam Smith.

Player to watch: Caleb Folan

The striker is the top scorer at Chesterfield knocking in ten goals this season, only six of them have come in the league. He did score in each of the big league cup games this season, one against Man City, one against West Ham and one in the Charlton game where the Spireites were finally knocked out.

Blackpool Team News:

Simon Grayson won`t have to make any changes to the side that started the Doncaster match. He made one change for that game, Jorgensen replacing Forbes on the right.

At the moment it looks like Grayson should be able to call upon the services of Ian Evatt whose loan is up on New Years eve but Grayson was confident of sorting a deal out for Evatt, either permanent or loan till the end of the season.

In the squad for the New Year is defender Kaspars Gorkss who is due to sign on New Years day from FK Ventspils. It`s unlikely that Grayson would throw the Latvian into the first team straight away but he might be involved in the match day squad.

Player to watch: Ian Evatt

If the big man gets the go ahead to extend his stay at the club keep your eyes out for him and maybe keep an eye on his recent flurries into scoring positions on the pitch. In the recent Doncaster game Evatt was forward for every free-kick, corner and throw-in. Also making 60 yard forward run in open play in an attempt to get into scoring positions, for what reason I`m not sure but a goal for the big man has to come soon and what better way than one against his former club.

Match Facts & Stats

Earlier this season the two sides shared the points in a one-all draw at Bloomfield Road. Goals came from Gillett for Pool and Kevan Hurst for the Blues.

Last season the match at the Recreation Ground also ended in a one-all draw, after Shane Nicholson and Ciaran Donnelly proceeded to have a wrestling match in the middle of the park, with the pair getting sent off, unfortunately for all you wrestling fans both players are current out on loan so there won`t be the much awaited re-match between the pair on Monday.

Ref Watch:

R J Olivier - W. Midlands - Games: 10 Yellow Cards: 19 Red Cards: 2
M A Astley and C N Harwood
Fourth Official : P Bramley

All I`m saying about Mr Olivier is Swansea away last season, dodgy offside goal, but it`s a New Year and let`s hope his New Year resolution is to learn how to referee and that that resolution goes into effect straight away

Match Prediction:

Chesterfield 0 - 2 Blackpool

Looked a bit low on confidence at times, and unfortunately has become the scapegoat for some fans. Looks dodgy on crosses but I think his all round game has improved over the last 5-6 weeks. I like him. People forget new club, new area etc it takes time to settle in. Onwards + Upwards
