My S6 Edge is almost at the end of it's 2 yr deal, I've seen nothing to replace it and will drop to a cheaper sim only deal. I'd never go back to apple.

I don't drink coffee but boy oh boy I've become a coat snob with my footy coat :grins:

A coat my grandparents would appreciate so much for the ability to keep the cold out. Doubt they'd appreciate the price?!

My S7 Edge hasn't got many advantages over the 6 except for water proof, dust proof, slightly better battery and camera and dual sim. All marginal improvements. I'm due to finish my contract with dreadful Vodafone in 2 months. Sure I'll go back to 3 who were excellent.

Bear, I have filter coffee some mornings, Nespresso other mornings and can not drink coffee anywhere if they don't meet these exacting standards. I don't like tea except for Coca Tea (Matè de Coca) so I will only drink water away from home.

I was with Gifford Gaff for a short time. Their USP is that they are a forum based service centre which is very frustrating if you have a problem you have to wait for somebody to post a reply. They are of course very cheap.

I'm not sure where phones can go from here.
They are video / cameras to a super spec. They are in essence mini pc's and I suspect most people use them for that function than as an actual speaking / listening device.
The edge is mini tablet shaped, the latest I-phones the same, anything bigger is basically tablet size.

I laid in bed the other night watching Eubank jr for free whilst MOTD was on the telly. If anything they've contributed to my useless sleep pattern.

Know what you mean about where do phones go next. The waterproof thing is a gimmick as it doesn't last. Perhaps the next thing will be projected keyboards so you could have a full keyboard to type, 3D?? There is a lot of development going into the "assistants", Google have moved this on a bit in that the assistant will follow the flow of a conversation so you don't have to repeat the context.

The one thing that needs to improve especially as we have moved to bigger phones is a a battery.

Agree with Layton and Sexy about Vodamoan. My lad is with them they are the worst I've come across. I have to say Tesco have fantastic customer service. I moved from an EE sim only deal of £9 for 3gb data unlimited calls/texts on a 30 day contract may be worth a shout. BT are doing a decent package for those needing silly data allowance at a reasonable cost but doubt their customer service will be any good and mostly based in India although I did hear they were moving a lot back to the UK.

Jealous of the coat Dave, I looked at one and the Woolrich coats but couldn't justify it

Layton, Claudia Roden's book, Coffee, is an informative, inspirational and entertaining read. Filter coffee with unbleached papers and freshly ground beans complemented by scalded milk is my poison of choice.

Bought it on holiday Hastie. I doubt I will ever buy anything as dear again, but on footy nights it's the dogs bollox.

Mrs Xile was zzzzing it Bob

Some stamina for a fighter Eubank jnr, fought an aussie and literally threw hundreds of punches.

ITV 4 had a very good programme about ChrisEubank snr on the night before the fight and gave a really good insight in to his fights and the ill fated Michael Watson fight and how they have reconciled.

Eubank said "Watson is a real Champion. He pasted me, and I want the world to know it. He was a better man than me, by far the better man. He outfought me, he had more skill, he outboxed me, he outmanoeuvred me. He won the fight’. "

Barry Hearn was also talking about how after this fight Eubank never punched as hard as he could. When you look back inEubank, Benn, Watson - we had 3 brilliant world class fighters

I was once a big boxing fan, and many other sports until they sold themselves out to the greedy Murdoch pay per view channels. Just a principle of mine that I won't subscribe to the likes of Murdoch and now Oystain. I'd sooner do without.

Anyway I met Chris Eubank's trainer, Ronnie, The Pitbull, Davies and his corner, Paul, on holiday in Tenerife in 1993. We sat at the bar each evening and quite often the conversation would turn to Chris Eubank. This was immediately after he failed to win for the first time in his career, 35 straight wins until he drew with Ray Close, (then Benn next). I was a big fan of Eubank, he imvho was a much tougher fighter than any he fought including Benn, Watson, Collins or Calzhaghe. Ronnie was furious, he told me several times over, that Eubank was holding back all the time since the Watson fight. He said he has lost all his attacking aggression and it was very obvious to see. Eubank for me could have been one of the best ever.

Bear, that name nudged a distant memory which on Googling brought me straight to an article I read in the Guardian I bought for the homeward journey from the Wembley defeat to Wet Spam, I think?

A very interesting woman, born in Cairo to Jewish parents and now living in London after Naser kicked out the many foreigners after the Suez Crisis. Described as a cultural anthropologist, something I'm very interested in.

I like her comments about not wanting to do a review on Spanish cuisine due to her dislike of Franco. It is also no surprise either at how impressed she was with the variety and quality of the Spanish food. 900 recipes from just one region! For me Spanish food is much more preferable to French Culinary Cuisine (which I was trained in). The Middle Eastern, North African Moorish, Jewish, Roman and Iberian influences have shaped their cuisine for more than 2 millennia.

I'm just going to the bookshop, I'll see what I can pick up.

Watched Eubank Jr last night totally outclass and destroy a previously unbeaten turk fighter in the super 8's. I don't think there is a fitter fighter anywhere else in the world at this minute.
Some boxer this. Potential to meet Groves in his next fight.

The only problem with Samsung phones is the crap storage space, practically forces you to buy a memory card. But whatever you do, do not get a windows phone, hardly any decent apps.

I had a Sony Xperia for a few years but it recently gave up the ghost (cost me $899). I've now got a new Nokia 8 (cost only $350) and is brilliant. Comes without all the loaded apps that some come with and operates faster in that respect (Android). Loving it up until now!

So most of us don't buy mobille phones anymore. We buy phones we features/characteristics and the more we want the more we pay. Each one of us needs to work out is they need it for photos and to what level, processing power, gaming, music, video watching, brand name etc etc. Normally we all want a bit of everything.

I love my Android but I get that others have justifiable reasons to get an iPhone. The argument on price is closing although Apple have moved the price up again. There are always good cheaper phones around but as soon as they are successful the price goes up eg LG, oneplus. I think the WileyFox is a decent all rounder at a decent price, I haven't seen the Nokia Bob but I would guess it would be a competitive price whilst they are trying to get back into the market
