Dave Durie was a wonderful player and a minster in one of the churches.I remember him beating Dennis Law quite fairly and as a result Law picked a lump of turf and threw it into Duries face.

Remained an amateur so he didn't have to play on religious holidays...never knew he was a minister..ta for that info.

Welcome aboard Baz

Dare I ask was it Horwich at home in the Northern final after et?
That'll be the Coughlin pen miss at their place over the Normid in the 1st leg. Oohh Andy Garner scored at home and also got sent off if I remember correctly.

I am not sure Chief, my memory seems to tell me it was the dingles. I do remember their fans invading the pitch from the scratching sheds at full time and it all kicking off! I was there with the wife of Pool keeper Barry Siddall at the time. They lived at the bottom of the road from us and I used to get free tickets for the games in exchange for either watching his then 2 year old son or escorting his elderly mother who used to travel over from elsmere port. Happy days and great memories for a young teenage lad, including those after match mingling with players and wife's in the tangerine nitespot!
