Teams to target...

Whilst it is always a dangerous ploy at this stage to begin to plot The Mighty's path to Championship credibility, we can always look back in 6 months time and laugh at how wrong we were!

So, with the fixtures out, Pool fans will be analysing and scrutinising our games and pinpointing possible successful periods and worrying about probable barren patches. Positivity is the key to success. We can target teams in this league who will NOT be much better than we have matched up against last season. Hopefully I will not be the one eating humble pie in the months to come, but here goes my list of teams we can 'expect' to take points off this season:

Bristol City
Scunthorpe
Colchester
Barnsley
Hull
QPR
Norwich
Palace
Burnley
Plymouth
Ipswich
And of course, PKE!

This list is by no means exhaustive; it may be that some of the aforementioned teams turn out to be promotion contenders. Whilst, I also think that we CAN take points of the other so called 'bigger' teams such as Southampton, WBA and Sheffield United.

Some games could be crucial to our extended stay or temporary sojourn in The Championship. Therefore, it is interesting to note that out of our first 6 home games, 5 of them are against the 'teams to target' - Bristol City, Hull, Colchester, Plymouth and Palace. That run of games at Bloomfield Road at the beginning of the season could provide a platform for consolidation. Equally, it could leave us in desperation, who knows!

Not being Mystic Meg, it is difficult to second guess the 'winnable' games over the 'we'll take a point' games. What we do know for sure is that its gonna be one heck of a rollercoaster, with plenty of exciting games to look forward to. Bring it on!
