No luck for Grayson again

Grayson’s latest target was Fulham defender Liam Fontaine, who has now signed for fellow League One strugglers Bristol City, who are the visitors to Bloomfield Road this Saturday.

Fontaine has been on loan at Yeovil this season, its his second spell at the club after first going there in 2004, in-between his loan period at Yeovil he also spent some time in Scotland at Kilmarnock.

Speaking on the club website Grayson commented that Fontaine decided on Bristol rather than Blackpool due to it being closer to home, a problem which was a factor Heckingbottom and Lee not signing for the Pool earlier in the month.

"We had agreed everything with Fulham the player and his agent on Friday and we thought he was coming up here on Sunday to sign on Monday, but we received a call late afternoon to say Liam was going to Bristol City.

Liam's girlfriend is five months pregnant and despite our best efforts they wanted to be further south and nearer her family. It has nothing to do with finance; it is purely geographical once again. It is a blow, but the search goes on, we have irons in the fire and again I would like to assure everyone we are trying our hardest to bring better players to this club"
