Grayson looks upfront

McDonald who has also attracted interest from Boston and another League One team Hartlepool, who have already had a £75k bid rejected by Town.

The 19-year-old started his football career at Arsenal as a trainee and moved to Ipswich in 2005. This season McDonanld was farmed out (sorry no pun indented) to Hartlepool on loan, he made four league appearances for the Monkey Hangers scoring one goal before returning to Ipswich .

On his return to Ipswich he has since gained a starting place in Town’s last three matches. McDonald's gaffer Joe Royle told Town’s official website 'Hartlepool have made a bid for Dean but it's not quite matched our valuation. We have had other clubs asking about taking Dean on loan but there is no point in that, We have made Dean aware of the situation and there are other bits and pieces to the deal tied in so we will see what develops.”

So it looks like any loan offer will be rejected and with the transfer fee possibly rising above 100k it doesn’t look promising for Simon Grayson’s quest to find a new striker.
