'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Blackpool's PFA Delight

For the first time since 2004, The Seasiders have a player named in the PFA team of the year, and that player is - unsuprisingly - Wes Hoolahan.

The Irish left winger has been an ever-present in the Blackpool side that occupies 4th place in League One and has turned in some mind-blowing performances over the course of the season.

PFA League One Team of the Year:
Joe Murphy (Scunthorpe), Jon Otsemobor (Crewe), Matt Lockwood (Leyton Orient), Terry Skiverton (Yeovil), Ian Breckin (Nottingham Forest), Wesley Hoolahan (Blackpool), Richard Wellens (Oldham), Matt Jarvis (Gillingham), Chris Shuker (Tranmere), Luke Varney (Crewe), Billy Sharp (Scunthorpe)

Looking at that team, if we do go up to The Championship how many of those players would you want to be signing for the 'Pool?

Looking at it from a realistic point of view, not very many. Joe Murphy and Billy Sharp have been promoted anyway, and Jon Otsemobor nowhere near as good as Shaun Barker in my opinion.

Matt Lockwood and Terry Skiverton are too emotionally attached to their clubs to ever consider moving and Ian Breckin is knocking on a bit now also.

It's in the midfield where we could really make some shrewd signings. I - like most others - would welcome back Richie Wellens with open arms in the middle of midfield. Matt Jarvis is a right winger I've always admired as well.

In the striking department, Luke Varney is a goalscorer and a playmaker and could solve the minor problems we have up top at this moment in time.

I was a bit upset that Shaun Barker and Keith Southern weren't given any recognition in the team, but that's the way it goes I suppose and I'm sure both will be key players next year - in whatever league we're in!
