Hitting the season high?

fig 1
League position game by game

It`s easy to see that we could find ourselves in the automation promotion positions if it wasn`t for the start to the season, from the five games in August a measly 4 points were gained.

The big months in terms of points acquisition were, October 10, December 16 and recently 14 in March.

We also know that the mid season blip in February didn`t help with chasing the play-off pack, and its down to the bumper month of March and the good start to April which has helped the rise into 4th spot in the table, the highest of the season, so far, still four games to go!

We know that form is crucial at this stage of the season, teams with a good run into the play-off often doing well. At the moment Pool sit at the top of the form guide with 6 wins, 1 lost and 1 draw from the last 8.

Carlisle who are striving to grab the last play-off spot are in second with final day opponent Swansea in third. Saturday opponents Northampton Town are 6th in the overall form league which is mainly due to their away form.

In the last 5 games away from the Sixfeilds the Cobblers have notched up 3 wins and 2 losses which places them in 4th for away form over the last 5 matches.

With Town being safe from relegation and unable to reach the play-offs it could mean an easy game for Pool on Saturday with the away side players having no pressure to gain a result with there league one status for next year secured.
