Blackpool have failed to beat Tranmere in their last six meetings, spanning over four years back into 2003. Boxing Day '03 saw Steve McMahon's 'Pool side overcome Brian Little's Tranmere 2-1 in front of an almost sell out crowd at Bloomfield Road.
In 2001, ITV digital televised a match between the two sides at Prenton Park. The result - as I'm sure you all remember - was a 4-0 reverse against the 'Pool. The main memory from that game was Steven Yates' great hit from the edge of the box in the opening minutes, and from then on the mighty were never at the races sadly.
The first time these two teams met was in 1978 in the old third division, with 'Pool winning 2-0 in both fixtures that year.
