Lyness In Team Of Midweek (17/3/17)

Lyness In Team Of Midweek (17/3/17)

Blackpool are represented in the latest Football League team of midweek that has been selected after this week's action.

The performance by goalkeeper Dean Lyness in the one nil victory over Stevenage in midweek at Bloomfield Road was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we'll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Lyness was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice - the FL blurb read.

'Blackpool maintained their push for the Sky Bet League Two Play-Offs with a 1-0 win over Stevenage, bringing an end to their opponents' nine-game undefeated streak. Lyness did all that was asked of him in the win, with the highlight a superb close-range save to deny Jack King in the first half.'

It's always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Lyness for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the points.

Full Team:

Dean Lyness (Blackpool), Greg Leigh (Bury), Cian Bolger (Fleetwood Town), Scott Harrison (Hartlepool United), Sean McConville (Accrington Stanley), Danny Rose (Portsmouth), James Coppinger (Doncaster Rovers), Filipe Morais (Bolton Wanderers), Lee Erwin (Oldham Athletic), Reuben Reid (Exeter City), Craig Mackail-Smith (Peterborough United).

Manager - Paul Lambert (Wolverhampton Wanderers).
