'If It's Football, It's Vital'

The Opposite View

Sheridan was clearly disappointed at the way his side conceded the goal - and ultimately slipped to another defeat, pushing them further back in the promotion race - down to fourth - while 'Pool took a vital new step towards a playoff place with the three points.

'We've got no cutting edge and some tired legs. I'll take responsibility for that - we need some fresh legs, but believe me, I've been trying.'

It sounds like Sheridan is in a similar situation to what Simon Grayson found himself in over recent weeks - a lack of firepower upfront and some would say a lack of 'strength in depth' - particularly at left back!

'I'm happier with the performance than I was after the three previous games, and I thought we were the better side without creating too many chances.'

Again, though, I'm very disappointed with what was a sloppy goal, and when you concede first against a very well-organised team it's always difficult.'

We seem lethargic and look like we're not going to win games.'

Despite the good performance, Oldham couldn't break down the 'Pool defence - who kept a clean sheet for the first time since January 20th when Blackpool beat Leyton Orient 1-0 with a solitary goal from Keith Southern [also the last win before last night!]. Shaun Barker in particular once again drew the plaudits from 'Pool fans.

Sheridan was asked to comment on his post-match comments to his side, to which, he made a rather frank response;

'I've not said a lot, to be fair. I don't really feel like speaking as I might say one or two things I regret.'

I've got the lads in tomorrow so we'll sit down and have a bit of a chat.'

So from the sounds of it, the manager is far from impressed by his side - who at one point topped the table before a run of 4 consecutive defeats [including last nights] sent them tumbling back into the playoff places and into 5th position with 12 points separating them and Scunthorpe at the top of the table!

Anyone would think that they're going through a 'crisis' at Boundary Park. For the sake of their promotion bid, the whole team needs to band together and grind out results before this slump turns into a downfall into mid-table!

Oi Sheridan get rid of Wellens as he is too good for you. (massive smiley) How much will you give us for Parker as he is too good for us.
