'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Well Done Karl Oyston

During my brief tenure as editor of this site it has been with regret that any and all articles written about the club have been negative. It is the case that it has been hard to find anyone not having similar sentiments, not just, as at every club, a case of 'you can't please 'em all', but a genuine frustration. A heart felt belief things were not being done properly.

In recent times, the Chairman, Karl Oyston, a self-confessed thick skinned, stubborn soul, has indicated an acceptance at such sentiments. Whilst the meeting with BSA recently wasn't a full fans forum many would have wanted, it did at least happen. Upon Paul Ince's appointment Karl Oyston again acknowledged change was needed. His problem of course is we have heard similar sentiments before.

But today, the club and the Chairman deserve congratulations. The announcement, firstly of a ticket price freeze, then further than that, the club have announced The Diamond Deal - celebrating the 60th anniversary of our famous FA Cup final win of 1953, by offering season tickets for £195.30. That's £8.49 per game, representing a massive season and excellent value for money.

Karl Oyston said the initiative was a 'thank you' to the fans. And a further commitment to 'get back on track'. Blackpool will now have the cheapest season tickets in the Championship.

So, hats off the the club and Karl. A fantastic gesture and hopefully one that will encourage more support. Also, a terrific acknowledgment by the club of one of our greatest achievements. A day that is still talked about, a cup final par excellence,a team who's legendary status still glows in the hearts of fans young and old.

The club recently demonstrated another continuing gratitude to those hero's which I'll write about tomorrow, in the meantime, let's hope this is a new beginning and a sign of things to come.

Come on the 'pool!
