Matt Derbyshire Comes To The Seaside

Some fans will have a sense of deja vu about being linked to Matt Derbeyshire, it seems we have been here before. As to wether the arrival of the Lancashire born striker is today's 'big announcement' remains to be seen, but in light of there still being no manager at the club and little if any transfer activity, the arrival of a striker comes as a pleasant surprise.

The fact he has Premiership experience and arrives in January could stir the ghost of James Beattie, but likewise, a January arrival of a striker not having the best of times has often had a catalytic effect on both player and the club, Paul Dickov, Stephen Dobbie, Jason Puncheon and of course, DJ Campbell to name a few.

It would seem a win/win. No real pressure or spotlight on Matt, but a chance to flourish, score some goals and at the very worst, rase his profile again. And possibly, what a time to come, with Matty Phillips back in the side, we could see the return of fast wing play, balls in the box and a chance for Matt Derbyshire to got on the end of a few?

And a word of caution from any detractors - Matt's Irish wife has been known to give barracking fans a bit of a roasting in the past! Let us hope she has no need for that, with Matt plundering the goals to get Blackpool back to the right end of the table.
