Pool move to snap up Margate hotshot

Margate's top scorer, Kwesi Appiah, has today tweeted that he is set to join Blackpool.

The striker has netted an impressive 32 goals in 29 appearances this campaign, and he told his Twitter followers that he was to leave Hartsdown Park this week.

The 21-year-old, who was released by Peterborough United in 2008, wrote: 'Margate agreed deal with Blackpool. Going to meet the Gaffa later in the week. Exciting stuff!'

Appiah's advisor has also confirmed that a deal is close to being completed, with Salif Rubie telling Sky Sports: "Everything has been agreed between the two clubs.

"Myself and Kwasi are going to Blackpool to meet the manager and hopefully finalise everything.

"Kwasi is very excited at the challenge of playing in the Championship."

These latest developments could spell the end of Ian Holloway's hopes of landing Jamie Vardy from Fleetwood Town after seemingly being priced out of a move.

Margate however strenuously deny that any deal has been struck with the Seasiders.
