Southern Signs New Deal

Blackpool midfielder Keith Southern has this afternoon signed a new deal with the Seasiders, therefore guarenteeing him a testimonial.

The 30 year old midfielder has signed a new one year deal with a year's option, becoming the second player to sign a new contract at Bloomfield Road this week following Gary Taylor-Fletcher's new deal.

Southern has been a mainstay in the 'Pool side since his arrival in 2002 and has struck up a promising central midfield partnership with Barry Ferguson this term.

Speaking to the official site about his new contract, Gnashers said:

'I never really wanted to leave Blackpool.

'The chairman has promised me a testimonial so he obviously thinks highly enough of me to do that and it'll be quite special. To stay at a club for 10 years is quite rare.'
