Holloway: Diouf Deal Dead

Blackpool manager Ian Holloway has confirmed that he was interested in Senegalese attacker El Hadji Diouf, but says that any potential deal is dead in the water after revealing that the free agent is likely to move to Greece.

'Pool were linked to Diouf in the nationals yesterday, and Ollie used his Cardiff pre-match press conference to confirm his interest in the ex Liverpool, Bolton, Sunderland and Blackburn player:

'As far as I'm concerned there is nothing in it because he has gone to Greece.

'That was confirmed last week, when he didn't come to meet me and went to speak to a Greek team instead. I was supposed to meet him last Thursday.

'I told my chairman I wanted to meet him and see what he was like because you don't know people.

'His reputation isn't the nicest with away supporters, so I wanted to see what he was like in person. I understand Sam Allardyce really likes him and rates him, and I think he is a very good footballer.

'So this time last week I was getting ready to meet him but the chairman got a call and was told he'd gone off to Greece.'

Stay tuned to Vital - we'll have all the team news ahead of tomorrow's visit of Cardiff later.
