Oyston: More Signings To Come

In an interview with Sky Sports News yesterday, Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston stated that he is hopeful that the Seasiders will add further new faces to their squad in the coming weeks.

KO also confirmed that the club are in talks with Birmingham City midfielder Barry Ferguson over a move to Bloomfield Road, and that DJ Campbell is likely to leave the club before the season begins.

'We've got two or three players in already,' said Oyston. 'There are two or three more that are very close and we've had offers accepted on another couple, so we're more or less where we want to be.'

Speaking about Gerardo Bruna and Thomas Ince, the two youngsters from Liverpool who the Seasiders are in talks with, Oyston said:

'There are two players coming the other way if we can agree personal terms with them.

'They are two that should figure and be part of the future.'

Speaking about departures from the club, he said:

'Sometimes you have got to take a step back to move forward. A few players have gone that we didn't want to go.

'Charlie's gone to Liverpool. That was probably the worst kept secret in football.

'We wish him all the best. He's done terrifically well since he came down from Rangers.

'I think he'll definitely flourish at Liverpool surrounded by all those good players.

'David Vaughan was probably our best player. He's gone to Sunderland and I'm sure he'll do very, very well for them.

'I'd imagine DJ Campbell will certainly sort out his future out somewhere else in the next week or two.

'They've done enough to earn themselves quite rightly the opportunity to go and play in the Premier League and stay there. That's testament to how good they are.'

Burnely fan in peace here. We have been linked with Keith Southern. Any gossip down your way on this and what's the lowdown on the player? Thought he was going to Leeds this summer?

Burnley fan even!! lol We do at least share one thing in common, spend bugger all in the Prem and both get relegated after one season. Nice to draw swords again though, just a pity its in the Championship! :-(

Southern was close to joining Leeds in January, but the deal didn't go through in the end. Heard nothing at this end and would be very surprised if he left.

Some rumours also now that he has signed a new contract for Pool. Can you confirm either way?

We took up the one year option on his contract in May. Now contracted until 2012.
