'Pool Arrive In Portugal

Blackpool have arrived in Portugal ahead of their week long training camp.

The players and staff flew out yesterday evening, and will today begin fitness work in earnest.

The entire first team squad have made the trip, and it is Vital's understanding that both Kevin Phillips and Bob Harris have also travelled. However, it is unclear whether Matt Hill has travelled as well.

'Pool manager Ian Holloway floated the idea of a pre-season training camp abroad at the beginning of the summer, but it appeared that it wasn't going to happen initially due to costs, before a compromise was struck - Portugal.

Nevertheless, club physio Phil Horner is very happy with the facilities out there. Speaking to the official website this week prior to the trip, he said:

'I went out at the weekend to check the facilities and they're fantastic and I think the boys will be really well looked after and we can get three sessions a day in there.

'The players will be away from their families and we can effectively work them 24 hours a day if we want to and get some really good quality work into them.'

The trip is also being used as a bonding exercise; an opportunity for the likes of Bojan Djordjic to really get to know his new team mates.
