Breaking News: Vaughan Signs For Sunderland

In the last few minutes Sunderland have confirmed the signing of out of contract Blackpool midfielder David Vaughan on a three year deal.

Hopes were falsely raised that Vaughan could sign a new deal with the Seasiders after all earlier this week when West Brom withdrew their contract offer to the Welsh international midfielder.

Hoewver, the 28 year old still had a wide range of Premier League clubs to choose from transfer wise, including Sunderland, Wolves and Villa.

Vaughan is Sunderland's ninth signing of the summer, and speaking to their official website, Black Cats manager Steve Bruce was delighted to have got his man:

'David was excellent throughout last season, including both games against us, so it's only natural that he caught the attention of a number of top clubs.

'We're delighted that he sees his future at Sunderland. His experience, grit and energy in midfield will be valuable assets to us.'

Vital would like to thank David once again for his efforts in tangerine and wish him and his family all the best at Sunderland.
