Breaking: Pool Sign Djordjic Subject To Medical

Blackpool have made their first signing of the summer after capturing free agent Bojan Djordjic, Blackpool Vital understand.

The deal is subject to a medical, which Djordjic partook this afternoon. He is set to be unveiled early next week.

The 29-year-old midfielder left Hungarian champions Videoton at the end of the season after 12 months at the club. He was initially signed for a fee in the region of £300,000 from AIK in Sweden but only went on to make twelve appearances - failing to make a real impact.

Supporters of AIK were upset to see the Serbian leave at the time and it is clear that specific types of teams and managers are able to tap into a talent which was once coined "the new Ryan Giggs" when he started out at Manchester United in the late 1990's.

Djordjic has previously had a spell at Plymouth under Ian Holloway where his attitude came into question on occasion. Djordjic was transfer-listed but did have a modicum of success, showing he obviously possesses the ability to be a threat in the Championship.

It was reported that Maccabi Haifa - who were then in the Champions League - moved to sign him in 2009 but he chose to stay at AIK a year before moving to Videoton.

It is something of a mystery as to why more managers haven`t been able to get a firm hold of the left-sided player during his career but he certainly fits the Blackpool bill - whereby the club are able to rebuild and nurture a once hot property, hopefully rekindling something he once had.
