Vaughan Sunderland Rumours Rubbish, says Wife

David Vaughan has not signed for Sunderland, Vital Blackpool understand.

There were reports yesterday that the 28-year-old had signed a three-year deal with the Black Cats, which are so far unfounded.

The midfielder's wife, Cat, defied the rumours on twitter after she posted: 'Just to clear things up David has NOT signed for Sunderland!'

Integral to Blackpool's fight for Premier League survival, Vaughan's contract is due to expire next month with many suitors from the top flight.

Sunderland have been joined by Bolton, Wigan and Everton in the race to sign the Welsh international - who picked up most of the awards at Monday's player of the year dinner.

An extended contract with the Seasiders was thought to have been done and dusted back in December but complications have led to the player of the season being able to walk away from Bloomfield Road for free at some point in the near future. Just not yet.
