'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Adam Expected To Win Fitness Battle

It wasn't a very good weekend for Charlie Adam. First he picked up an injury in Blackpool's defeat against Wigan on Saturday, then he missed out on being crowned the PFA Player's Player of the Year on Sunday, also missing out on the Premier League 'Team of the Season'.

There were concerns initially over Adam's injury; his foot was encased in a cast after Saturday's game and was badly swollen. Indeed, the swelling was that bad that he could not have an x-ray to assess the damage until yesterday.

The x-ray showed no great damage to the area, but Adam is under doctor's orders to rest up to ensure that he is fit for the weekend and our game against Newcastle.

Adam's midfield colleague David Vaughan is also expected to be fit for the game.

Vaughan has missed the past two games through injury and there were concerns he might be out for the rest of the season with a damaged hip, but he has been given an all clear in news that will be a massive boost to the Seasiders ahead of the must-win game at Bloomfield Road.
