Vaughan Injury Doubt For Wigan Clash

Some bad news for Blackpool fans: star midfielder David Vaughan could miss Saturday's crunch clash against Wigan at Bloomfield Road through injury.

The Welsh international missed the defeat to Arsenal at the weekend after taking a kick in training, but could now also miss Saturday's relegation six pointer after 'Pool manager Ian Holloway revealed that he has a hip injury.

Speaking to the Blackpool Gazette, Ollie said:

'Vaughan has an injury and we're not sure how long he will be out. We'll have to keep an eye on it.

'I don't think the number of games he has played has helped. Like Charlie Adam, he hasn't really stopped for 18 months and didn't get much rest in the summer because we were in the play-offs.

'He has been tired for a while, and when you are tired you are more likely to get an injury.'

Conscious of this, Holloway has given his players the first half of this week off - they won't return to training until Thursday, and are under strict orders to 'put their feet up'.

Nevertheless, not having Vaughany fit for such a massive game would undoubtedly be a big blow for the Seasiders.

Keith Southern replaced him in the side on Sunday and you would imagine that he would retain his place in the side at the weekend.

We'll have all the build-up to Saturday's 'winner takes all' clash, so stay tuned to Vital.
