Edwards Joins Norwich On Loan

Championship promotion chasers Norwich City have today completed the signing of Blackpool's centre half Rob Edwards on loan until the end of the sesaon.

Edwards has been linked with a loan move away from Bloomfield Road having failed to establish himself in the team this season (he has made just four appearances since signing a new one year deal in the summer), and the Canaries swooped for the Welsh international following the news that their centre half Leon Barnett is likely to miss the rest of the season through injury.

Edwards goes straight into the side to face Doncaster tomorrow night, and speaking to the Norwich official website, said:

'I am delighted to be back involved and hopefully I can get cracking as soon as possible and hopefully get some first-team action and help the boys in anyway I can.'

'Pool's fringe players have been the subject of transfer speculation over the past few days, with club captain Jason Euell joining Doncaster on loan and Sheffield United making an offer to take Marlon Harewood on loan.

However, the decision to loan out Edwards at this time appears to be bizarre as it leaves 'Pool with just three fit centre halves, although Chris Basham is back in training following his broken leg.

Nevertheless, the Championship is probably Edwards' level and this loan move probably signals the end of his 'Pool career, despite the fact that he was retained in 'Pool's Premier League squad after the January transfer window closed.

'In Ollie We Trust', I guess!
