Colback No-Go, But Beattie Signs

Earlier this month we reported that Blackpool wanted to sign Sunderland midfielder Jack Colback on loan, but this evening Sky Sports are reporting that the Seasiders have failed in their bid for the youngster.

The 21 year old had been on loan at Championship side Ipswich Town, but Steve Bruce's side recalled him following an injury crisis in midfield and are now not prepared to let him go out on loan again.

Instead, the Seasiders are said to be focussing on strengthening their attacking options in the remaining hours of the transfer window, and in the last few minutes Rangers striker James Beattie has completed his loan move to the 'Pool.

Beattie joins until the end of the season and the former England international goes straight into contention for Wednesday night's game with West Ham.
