'Pool Miss Out On Austin

Burnley this afternoon completed the signing of Swindon Town's star striker Charlie Austin for a fee believed to be between £1-£2 million.

Blackpool were considered to be the frontrunners for the player's signature earlier in the week, with Swindon boss Danny Wilson confirming as much after his side's 0-0 draw with Tranmere.

However, the lure of reuniting with Eddie Howe has proved too much for Austin, and after an eleventh hour bid, Burnley have got their man.

Although the deal didn't come down to money in the end, the fact remains that it's another missed target for the Seasiders who are in desperate need of strengthening their squad, especially in attack.

So far the Seasiders have signed just one player on a deal until the end of the season and look set to sign a player from League One Plymouth on loan - hardly smacks of Premier League does it?

As much as you can admire our transfer policy, there will come a point where we fail to pull off a raft of great signings in the closing days/hours of a transfer window... I just hope it's not this one.

Do you think the Seasiders will pull any rabbits out of the hat before the transfer window closes? Have your say on our forums.

Hmmm . . . looks like were not getting any players in this transfer window then. Again names like Aliadiare, Gera and a few more. . . but theyd rather go elsewhere as youngster Austin has done. Working under Holloway would be a pull factor for me alone. The man is a genious.
