'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Vaughan Again

In our latest poll we asked you whether or not the Seasiders should break their 'wage cap' to ensure that the likes of David Vaughan remain at the club. 68% of you voted yes.

Vaughan's contract is up at the end of the season and at present it appears unlikely that he will sign a new one.

It is unlikely that 'Pool would sell such a key player this month, but there is the very real risk of losing him on a free transfer in the summer and Seasiders boss Ian Holloway has already intimated just how difficult he will be to replace, especially if the Seasiders get no money for him.

At present there is a rough £10,000 a week salary cap at Bloomfield Road, but with the Seasiders looking set to retain their Premier League status for next season, surely that needs to adjusted to allow us to continue to progress?

Arguably, breaking that cap to retain the likes of Vaughan (who has more than proved himself at this level) would save more money than buying a replacement for him would.

With the 'Pool desperately trying to keep hold of their best players whilst also adding to their squad, January promises to be both an important and intriguing month, and as always Vital will have all the news for you as it happens.
